CAIRO, N.Y. (WRGB) — A routine traffic stop in the town of Cairo led to the arrest of 61-year-old Ellen Wade of Greenville on multiple drug charges, according to New York State Police.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:13 PM on Monday, August 18, 2025, when state troopers stationed in Catskill observed a 2016 Jeep violating traffic laws on Main Street.
Upon stopping the vehicle, troopers conducted a search and discovered:
Approximately 22.43 grams of cocaine
Glass pipes containing drug residue
Wade, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was arrested on-site and transported to the State Police barracks in Catskill for processing.
She faces multiple charges, including:
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance
Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia for Manufacture
Vehicle and Traffic Law violations
Wade was arraigned in the Town of Greenville Court and subsequently released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in Town of Cairo Court on Monday, August 26, 2025, at 1:00 PM.
