Hicksville, NY — A 52-year-old Hicksville woman has been arrested after allegedly embezzling over $300,000 from her employer over a period of 18 months to pay off personal credit card debt.
According to Nassau County detectives, Elizabeth Stern worked at Superior Air Conditioning & Heating Systems Inc., located in Plainview, where she is accused of stealing company checks.
Investigators say Stern used the stolen checks to pay off her credit card bills, totaling more than $300,000, and also cashed additional checks amounting to $38,000.
Police arrested Stern, who now faces multiple felony charges related to grand larceny and check fraud. She is expected to appear before a judge.
Authorities have not confirmed whether any of the stolen funds have been recovered.
