LYERLY, Ga. — Elizabeth Marie Gunnells, 44, of Lyerly, who was arrested last week, is now facing an additional felony entering auto charge related to an incident on Leon Street. Gunnells is accused of stealing clothing and sunglasses valued at $351.
Earlier this week, Gunnells was arrested after being caught shoplifting at the West Rome Walmart. Reports state she concealed an iPhone 11 in her back pocket and attempted to leave without paying.
During her arrest, authorities discovered a glass pipe containing methamphetamine in her bra. Upon arrival at the jail, Gunnells allegedly ingested drugs intentionally in an attempt to prevent officers from recovering them.
Gunnells faces multiple charges, including:
Possession of methamphetamine
Tampering with evidence
Crossing the guard line with drugs
Possession of drug-related objects
Theft by shoplifting
The new entering auto charge adds to her ongoing legal proceedings.
