CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) — Charleston County deputies arrested 23-year-old Elijah Robinson following a high-speed chase and crash on Sunday night.

According to deputies, Robinson drove recklessly at high speeds on the Isle of Palms Connector before evading a traffic stop attempt by Isle of Palms Police. He then fled onto US-17 heading toward Charleston, making multiple turns before crashing into a raised median at Long Point Road and Whipple Road, causing his vehicle to flip over.

After the crash, Robinson and a female passenger exited the vehicle through broken windows. Robinson ran across the road but was quickly chased and taken into custody by deputies.

Both Robinson and the passenger were treated for minor injuries at the Medical University of South Carolina. The South Carolina Highway Patrol also responded to the scene.
