Electronics City police have arrested two African nationals, including a woman, for allegedly trafficking narcotics in the city. Authorities seized 2.15 kilograms of MDMA crystals valued at Rs 5 crore from the accused, identified as Joel Kabong (28), a Congolese national residing in Hulimavu since 2013 on a student visa, and Joy Sunday (22), who arrived in India three years ago also on a student visa.
Acting on a tip-off on August 15, police caught Kabong near Bettadasanapura while allegedly selling MDMA. Joy was arrested later the same day for her involvement in the drug operation. Both suspects had overstayed their visas and were actively engaged in drug trafficking.
The police revealed that a Nigerian named Angolano (30), who supplied drugs to the duo at a lower cost, remains at large. Authorities have launched a manhunt to apprehend him.
In a related case, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) Anti-Narcotics Wing arrested John D’Costa, who arrived in India on a tourist visa in 2024.
