The police in Kashmir have arrested eight individuals allegedly involved in drug trafficking across various regions of the valley.
In the first operation, authorities apprehended two men, Khalid Nazir Chelu and Umer Mushtaq Bhat, in Shalbaf Mohalla. A significant amount of cannabis powder was recovered from them, along with the motorcycle they were riding.
Next, police arrested Kauser Mehdi Teli and Sahil Ahmad Shaikh near Wanihama Link Road. The duo was caught transporting a cannabis-like substance, and their load-carrier (JK01BA-0654) was seized.
In Sopore, police detained Jahangir Ahmad Shah at Neharpora, recovering 300 Alpradex 0.5 tablets and Rs22,550 in cash from his possession. His car (JK05M-4294) was also confiscated.
At Batpora Crossing, Asif Ahmad Sheikh was arrested after police found two sticks of contraband cannabis on him.
Further investigations led to the arrest of Fayaz Ahmad Wani in Kupwara’s Bunpora area, who was found with a cannabis-like substance.
In Khrew, Tariq Ahmad Teeli was detained with 54 grams of cannabis in his possession.
The police have registered cases under relevant sections of law at their respective stations, and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
