The Kendrapada Police arrested eight inter-district criminals and dismantled a major burglary gang responsible for multiple thefts under the Nikirai Police Station limits.
The arrested individuals are: Sk Mustaqul alias Mitu (30), Sk Sahil (25), Sk Tanbir (32), Sk Nasum (34), Sk Abdul (30), Sk Anwar (40) from Kendrapada district, and Saurav Mishra (22) and Akhaya Kumar Pothal (53) from Jajpur district.
The case surfaced after Dambarudhar Barik of Dhola village filed a complaint on December 22, 2025, reporting that burglars had stolen gold and silver ornaments along with Rs 30,000 in cash from his daughter’s house. The gang also targeted Hanuman Temple and Gramadebati Temple of Dhola village, causing a total loss of approximately Rs 3.5 lakh.
In a separate complaint, Ashok Kumar Jena reported thefts at Bata Mahabir Temple of Dihamugabadi, Tarini Temple, and Gramadebati Temple of Nalapari village, with stolen gold and silver ornaments worth about Rs 1 lakh.
Following the incidents, the Inspector-in-Charge of Nikirai Police Station, in coordination with IICs of Kendrapada Town and Bari Police Stations and special squads, conducted an intensive investigation. This effort led to uncovering an active inter-district burglary gang operating across Kendrapada, Jajpur, Bhadrak, and Cuttack districts.

Silver mukutas weighing 17 grams
Melted silver weighing 555 grams
Cash of Rs 14,670
One motorcycle and one scooty
Four smartphones
A weighing machine and burglary tools
All stolen items were seized, and the investigation into further gang activities is ongoing.
