Efrain Jacobo, 42, of Prospect Heights, Illinois, faces federal firearm and narcotics trafficking charges after a DEA investigation linked him to an illegal distribution network.
Jacobo is accused of selling firearms without a license between October 30 and November 14, 2024, in Joliet, Illinois. Alongside these firearm charges, he faces trafficking methamphetamine and cocaine, including the distribution of at least 50 grams of meth on October 24, 2024.
The charges stem from controlled operations where undercover officers posed as buyers. Jacobo continued his illegal activities into December 2024, with a failed attempt to distribute meth in Bolingbrook, Illinois, on December 18, followed by another cocaine sale the next day.
Authorities also uncovered a storage unit containing 400 grams of fentanyl and more cocaine in Wheeling, Illinois. Additionally, investigators seized 150 kilograms of meth from a truck traveling from Texas to Illinois.
Jacobo was apprehended with a Taurus PT111 G2 9mm pistol, ammunition, and $10,000 in cash. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and remains in custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.
The public is reminded that an indictment is not evidence of guilt, and Jacobo is entitled to a fair trial.
