Abuja – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 35-year-old Hyginus Nkwocha in Abuja on charges of internet fraud and money laundering. Known as a ‘young billionaire,’ Nkwocha was apprehended at Ever Green Estate, located behind Millennium Estate in Lugbe, following intelligence reports that linked him to fraudulent online activities and financial crimes.

During the operation, the EFCC seized numerous luxury items from Nkwocha, including $2,200 in cash, a Mercedes Benz ML 350, a Chevrolet Camaro, and a Mustang car. In addition, several high-end smartphones, such as the iPhone 15 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, and iPhone 13 Pro Max, as well as a MacBook and various gold jewelry pieces, were also confiscated. The EFCC also impounded multiple properties associated with Nkwocha, including units at Cookies Court 2 and Ocean Palm Estate in Lagos, and other properties in Abuja.

Nkwocha’s arrest forms part of the EFCC’s ongoing crackdown on cybercrime and money laundering in Nigeria. The commission confirmed that Nkwocha will face formal charges once investigations are completed, highlighting their commitment to tackling online fraud.
