Edward Eugene Redd, a 49-year-old resident of Lake Forest, has been arrested in connection with a bank robbery that occurred earlier this year. The robbery took place on October 17, 2024, at a Chase Bank located near Portola Parkway and Bake Parkway in Lake Forest.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Redd, wearing a mask and armed with a handgun, entered the bank and immediately approached a teller. He then fired a shot toward the teller’s feet, before making off with more than $31,000 in cash. Despite a swift response from law enforcement, Redd managed to escape the scene.
In the days following the robbery, investigators discovered several items along a nearby trail believed to be linked to the crime. Using advanced investigative techniques and DNA technology, authorities were able to connect the evidence to Redd.
At approximately 4 a.m. on Friday, a SWAT team and sheriff’s deputies apprehended Redd at his home without incident. He was taken into custody and booked into the Orange County Jail, where he awaits charges of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
While Redd has not been connected to any other robberies, the investigation is still ongoing.
