BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. (Gray News) — A Florida man has been arrested after allegedly assaulting Subway restaurant employees over what he described as their “bad attitudes.”
According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, 45-year-old Edward Cocaine faces multiple charges, including two counts of aggravated assault, burglary with assault or battery, and battery.
Sheriff Wayne Ivey confirmed the incident in a Facebook post, adding humorously, “And yes, that’s his real name.”
Cocaine and a friend visited a local Subway for lunch on Wednesday, when an argument reportedly broke out between Cocaine and the staff. According to the sheriff, Cocaine became “so irate” that he went behind the counter, pushed an employee, and then picked up a knife, threatening to use it.
His friend intervened and was able to calm him down and get him to leave the restaurant before any injuries occurred.
Cocaine later admitted to investigators that he was the person in the surveillance video and acknowledged that brandishing the knife had “crossed the line.”
He was booked into jail on Wednesday and released the next day on bond. Sheriff Ivey added a sarcastic remark about Cocaine’s future experience behind bars:
“I guarantee he ain’t gonna like the service or the attitude of those who work there!”
Cocaine is scheduled to appear in court on May 6.
