Suspect accused of taking $1,700 down payment for fake sale

LAREDO, Texas — Police have arrested a Laredo man accused of scamming residents through fake trailer sales.

According to the Laredo Police Department, investigators began looking into the case after a victim reported paying $1,700 as a down payment for a red utility trailer that never arrived.

The victim told officers that Eduardo Enrique Espinoza-Flores, 53, claimed to own the trailer and took the payment in July 2025. However, Espinoza-Flores never delivered the trailer and refused to return the money.

Further investigation revealed that Espinoza-Flores was not the legitimate owner of the utility trailer he claimed to sell.

On October 14, 2025, police served Espinoza-Flores with an arrest warrant for theft of property, a Class A misdemeanor.

Authorities are reminding residents to verify ownership and documentation before making large cash purchases, especially through private sales.
