CLEWISTON, Fla. — A Miami man was arrested on July 16 after being stopped by Hendry County deputies for speeding through an intersection.
The driver, identified as 24-year-old Edgarvis DeJesus Contreras Fernandez, admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle when approached by deputies. Following his confession, Fernandez was detained while officers conducted a search of his vehicle.
The search uncovered 113 grams of marijuana, $13,970 in cash, drug packaging materials, and drug paraphernalia.
Fernandez was arrested and transported to the Hendry County Jail. He faces charges of marijuana distribution, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug equipment. He is currently being held on a $7,500 bond.
