EDINA, Minn. – Xavier Thomas Koskinen, a 20-year-old from Eden Prairie, has pleaded guilty to a gross misdemeanor charge of fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct related to an incident involving a teenage girl during a high school football game in Edina in 2024.
According to Hennepin County District Court records, Koskinen entered his plea on May 21 before Judge Mark Kappelhoff. The charge — nonconsensual sexual contact — stems from a September 6, 2024 incident, when Koskinen, then 19, met a 14-year-old girl and allegedly engaged in inappropriate conduct.
A criminal complaint filed in November 2024 alleged that Koskinen initially contacted the girl via Snapchat, falsely claiming to be a 16-year-old junior. They later met at the football game, after which Koskinen led the girl and her friend to a nearby playground. There, he allegedly grabbed the girl’s buttocks, kissed her, and attempted to restrain her from standing up.
The girl reportedly told police she made her age — 14 — clear to Koskinen during their interaction. Her friend, who was present during the encounter, corroborated parts of her account. Koskinen initially denied knowing the girl, but later admitted to communicating with her online, claiming he thought she was 16 or 17.
As part of a plea agreement, Koskinen is expected to serve 30 days in the Hennepin County Adult Corrections Facility, followed by two years of probation. He remains out of custody on a $20,000 bond.
Judge Kappelhoff has ordered a pre-sentencing investigation, a sex offender evaluation, and assigned a forensic navigator to assist in the process. Koskinen’s sentencing is scheduled for July 16.
Although a jury trial is still listed for August 11, it will likely be canceled following the plea.
