The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) in East Khasi Hills arrested two drug peddlers from Silchar, Assam, on Friday, seizing suspected heroin in their possession.
During a naka at Sohryngkham, officers apprehended Smti Suma (42) and Sultan Mahammad Mazumder (35). Police recovered four soap boxes containing 54.13 grams of suspected heroin from the duo.
The vehicle (AS 11 EC 3733) in which the accused were travelling was also seized as part of the operation. Authorities confirmed that further investigation is underway to trace the source of the drugs and any potential accomplices.
