by Ananya Mehta

A 25-year-old e-rickshaw driver, Sandeep, was arrested for allegedly stealing Rs 15,000 from his neighbour’s shop in Sagarpur, Southwest Delhi, police said on Tuesday. The theft was reportedly an act of revenge following a dispute over cow dung.

Police received a complaint of house theft on August 21 at Sagarpur police station. According to DCP Amit Goel (Southwest), CCTV footage and manual investigations helped identify the suspect.

Sandeep was arrested on August 25, and the stolen money was recovered. During interrogation, he confessed that the theft was committed in retaliation after the complainant publicly abused him following an argument about cows roaming around Sandeep’s house and discharging dung.

The police have registered an FIR under sections 380 (theft in a house) and 331 (house trespass) of the Indian Penal Code.
