BIG FLATS, N.Y. — A recruit with the Corning Police Department has been arrested following allegations of domestic violence.

The New York State Police Troop E Violent Crime Investigation Team took Dylan Ellsworth into custody Thursday at the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Academy, where he was undergoing training.

State Police said the arrest followed a criminal investigation requested by Kenzie Spaulding. The case involves alleged domestic incidents with a former partner reportedly occurring between August and December of last year. The investigation was referred to State Police for independent review with authorization from the Steuben County District Attorney’s Office.

Ellsworth faces a felony charge of Criminal Mischief in the third degree, as well as misdemeanor charges including Assault in the third degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Criminal Obstruction of Breathing.

He was processed at the State Police barracks in Painted Post and held pending arraignment in the Steuben County Centralized Arraignment Court. Authorities also plan to request an order of protection for the alleged victim and a child. The investigation is ongoing.
