Dy.SP Chandrakumar Arrests Tamil Nadu Men in Idol Theft

Panchaloha Idol Stolen from Marayur Temple Recovered

Marayur, Kerala: A special investigation team led by Munnar Dy.SP S. Chandrakumar arrested two Tamil Nadu natives for stealing a Panchaloha idol from a temple in Marayur.

The arrested individuals were identified as Velankanni (50) from Maniyankaranpetty and Kumareshan (43) from Uthamapalayam, Tamil Nadu. The centuries-old idol was stolen from the Kaliyamman temple under the Vaguvarai estate division on the night of November 6.

The temple, located in an isolated area, was broken into by the accused who forcibly opened the doors to take the idol. Following the incident, Idukki District Police Chief K.M. Sabu Mathew formed a special investigation team to probe the theft, leading to the arrests.
