In a chilling case of relationship violence, Durvas Darshan Patil has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 26-year-old lover, Bhakti Jitendra Mayekar, and dumping her body in a ditch near Amba Ghat.
Mayekar was reported missing on August 17, after informing her family that she was going to meet a friend. When she didn’t return, her family filed a missing complaint with the police.
Acting swiftly, the police traced her mobile location near Khandala and soon identified Patil as a key suspect. Under interrogation, he confessed to killing Bhakti due to repeated arguments about his planned marriage to another woman.
According to officials, Patil was assisted by two aides – Vishwas Vijay Pawar and Sushant Shantaram Naralkar – in disposing of the body. All three have now been arrested.
The victim’s remains were found in Amba Ghat, a remote area, adding to the grim nature of the crime. Investigators believe the murder was premeditated and fueled by jealousy and betrayal.
Police have assured a thorough investigation, stressing the importance of justice in crimes against women.
