The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested Nene Lily Emeya, Senior Manager of Risk Management at the Nigerian Electricity Liability Management Company (NELMCO). Emeya was detained after publicly demanding an investigation into the forgery of her signature on official court documents and raising concerns about alleged misconduct by NELMCO’s Managing Director, Mojoyinoluwa Dekalu-Thomas.
Sources revealed that DSS operatives picked up Emeya from her office on Monday, just hours before she was scheduled to appear before an internal disciplinary panel, which some staff believe was intended to silence her.
Emeya first reported the signature forgery incident in October 2024 but said no action was taken by the agency’s management or legal team. Instead, she was transferred to the Risk Management department—a move she describes as punitive.
In a written response to the disciplinary query, Emeya denied all accusations of insubordination, abusive language, or misconduct, calling them vague and malicious attempts to discredit her. She emphasized that the forgery allegations remain uninvestigated and insisted on her professionalism throughout the ordeal.
Emeya’s case has raised concerns about internal governance at NELMCO, as investigations continue.
