EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH, LA — Rashee Scruggs (42) and Cynthia Gross (20) were arrested following a detailed investigation into drug trafficking activities in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana. According to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office (EBRSO), the two face multiple charges after a two-month-long investigation that involved extensive surveillance and controlled drug purchases, including cocaine and MDMA pills.

The investigation culminated in a series of search warrants executed on April 10, 2025. Authorities first conducted a search on Paige Street, where Scruggs was located. Simultaneously, law enforcement executed search warrants at locations on Peerless Street, including a mobile home, a travel trailer, and a stationary shed.

During the search of the Peerless Street property, authorities seized large quantities of illegal drugs and other incriminating items:

2.13 Pounds of Powder Fentanyl (equivalent to 9,662 lethal doses)

23,715 Dosage Units of MDMA Pills (10.51 Pounds)

3.51 Pounds of Powder Cocaine

1.65 Pounds of Crack Cocaine

2.99 Ounces of Marijuana

Prescription drugs: 10 Dosage Units of Hydrocodone, 2 Dosage Units of Oxycodone, and 1 Dosage Unit of Dextroamphetamine

4 Digital Scales (contaminated with cocaine and fentanyl residue)

Glass Measuring Container with cocaine residue

Money Counter and other packaging materials for narcotics

$82,591 in cash (pending seizure)

Several firearms, including a Taurus G2C semiauto 9mm handgun (stolen) and a Bersa Thunder .380 caliber handgun

The operation involved significant resources from the EBRSO and focused on Scruggs’ involvement in trafficking narcotics within the East Baton Rouge area. Both Scruggs and Gross were arrested and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, where they face serious charges for drug trafficking, drug possession, and illegal firearm possession.

Authorities continue to investigate the case, and the large-scale bust highlights the growing concerns over fentanyl trafficking and its deadly impact on local communities.
