Drug Peddlers Arrested in Awantipora 840 Grams of Cannabis Seized

Police continue efforts to curb drug trade in Pampore region.

In an ongoing crackdown against drug trafficking, the Awantipora police arrested two individuals and recovered a substantial quantity of contraband substances from their possession. The operation took place at a checkpoint in Literbal Pampore, near the gas plant.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Tariq Ahmad Mir, a resident of Tulbagh Pampore, and Javid Ahmad Dar, a resident of Lalpora Chatlam. Both were intercepted by a police team from Police Station Pampore under the supervision of SDPO Pampore.

During a search of the suspects, authorities recovered 840 grams of a cannabis-like substance, which was found to be grinded and ready for distribution. The police have now registered a case under FIR No. 3/2025 according to the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The police spokesperson has also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to drug peddling or other crimes. Residents are encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement to combat the growing drug menace in the region.

The arrest highlights the commitment of local authorities to act decisively against drug-related crimes, ensuring that the perpetrators face legal action as per the law.
