Dwarkapuri police arrested notorious drug peddler Shubham alias Nepali (30), who was absconding and linked to seven criminal cases, on Wednesday. Shubham, a resident of Shraddhasaburi Colony, was apprehended in the Super Corridor area during a swift operation led by Inspector Sushil Patel.
Shubham has 18 cases against him, including attempt to murder, extortion, loot, and Arms Act violations. During interrogation, he revealed his connection with Rajasthan-based drug trafficker Ayub Lala, who introduced him to the brown sugar and MD drug trade about two years ago while both were jailed.
After release, Shubham resumed trafficking brown sugar, sourcing 40-50 grams per shipment from Rajasthan at Rs 2,000-3,000 per gram. He divided the drugs into 15 tokens of one gram each, selling them to his associates Rahul, Lokesh, and Yash for Rs 400 per token. These associates then retailed the drugs across Indore for Rs 500-600 per token.
Evading arrest by frequently shifting between Rau, Tulsi Nagar, and Ujjain, Shubham coordinated his drug sales through WhatsApp with a network of about 12 youths across Dwarkapuri, Rau, Chandan Nagar, and Annapurna localities. Police estimate the racket moved drugs worth nearly Rs two crore monthly.
The accused was also linked with the Durlabh Kashyap gang, a group infamous for flaunting weapons on social media before Kashyap’s murder in 2020. Shubham is currently in police custody, with investigations ongoing.
