A drug courier was shot and wounded, and 800,000 methamphetamine pills were seized during a dramatic police pursuit in the Sai Noi district of Nonthaburi early on Tuesday.

The operation, led by Pol Maj Gen Khomsit Rangsai, chief of Metropolitan Police Division 9, was set up after a tip-off that a large drug shipment was being smuggled through the area. At around 3 a.m., officers concealed themselves along a road in tambon Khunsri, waiting for the suspect vehicle, which had Bangkok plates.

When the vehicle appeared, police signaled for the driver to stop for a search. Instead, the driver accelerated dangerously, ramming three police vehicles and attempting to flee. Officers fired shots at the vehicle’s tires before pursuing it.

The suspect, identified as Kritsana, 35, from Songkhla, was eventually caught after his vehicle was stopped. He had a gunshot wound to his left leg and was taken to Sai Noi Hospital for treatment. Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered four black plastic bags containing 200,000 methamphetamine pills each.

Kritsana has been charged with illegal possession of meth with intent to sell, attempting to kill officers on duty, and resisting arrest. Police confirmed that he was hired to deliver the drugs, and the investigation into the drug trafficking network is ongoing.
