The case of a high-value jewelry theft came to light when a businesswoman in South Delhi’s Anand Niketan noticed her locker was missing valuables during Navratri festivities. Police said her suspicions arose after observing that the locker appeared unusually “light,” and she confirmed it was empty once the celebrations began.
For 15 days, Mahender Dan, her driver from Indokha village in Rajasthan, reportedly sat at home with the stolen collection, unsure how to liquidate it, as it consisted entirely of high-end jewelry and watches.
The haul allegedly included Rolexes, gold-plated Roger Dubuis watches, Hublot watches, solitaires, emeralds, and diamonds worth around Rs4 crore.
A police officer said, “He had stolen all of it, but was unsure how and what to do about the proceeds since none of it was cash.” The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are examining how the items can be traced and recovered.
