Driver Arrested in Rs 40 Lakh Theft from Businessman Bikash Kumar

Part of stolen Rs 40 lakh recovered; two suspects still at large

In a daring theft in Simaluguri town, Rs 40 lakh was stolen from the residence of businessman Bikash Kumar on Friday morning while the family was away.

Simaluguri police, led by Officer-in-Charge Manoranjan Rajkhowa, Sub-Inspector Bedanta Buragohain, and Nazira Co-District Police Superintendent Tushar Desai, promptly launched an investigation. The probe resulted in the arrest of driver Bitu Gogoi from Abhaypuria, Simaluguri.

During the investigation, it emerged that Bikran Josowal and an unidentified accomplice stole Rs 40 lakh and handed Rs 14.73 lakh to Gogoi, who hid the money in a nearby tea garden. Police have recovered the hidden Rs 14.73 lakh, but the remaining amount is still missing.

The police continue their search for Bikran Josowal and the unidentified suspect, urging anyone with information to come forward.
