Driver Accused of Setting Staff Bus Ablaze Undergoing Treatment After Incident in Hinjewadi

Four Dead, Six Hospitalized as Investigation into Murder Charges Continues

The driver of the Hinjewadi-based Vyoma Graphics company’s staff bus, Janardan Humbardikar (who is accused of setting the vehicle ablaze), remains under medical care with approximately 15% burn injuries at the Ruby Hall Clinic in Hinjewadi. The incident, which occurred around 7:45 AM on March 19, tragically led to the deaths of four staff members, with six others suffering burn injuries.

The police are waiting for Humbardikar’s discharge from the hospital before making his arrest, as he faces charges of murder and attempted murder. The police stated that although his wounds are healing, Humbardikar requires ongoing physiotherapy for his lower limbs, which were affected by the burns. He is limping while walking, and medical professionals are carefully monitoring his recovery. Hospital authorities suggest that he may be discharged by next week, depending on his progress in walking and physiotherapy.

Vishal Gaikwad, the Deputy Commissioner of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police, confirmed that Humbardikar also suffers from diabetes and blood pressure issues, which complicate his treatment. “He is in shock and under critical care in the ICU. We will arrest him once he is discharged. Meanwhile, we have recorded witness statements and spoken to company employees,” Gaikwad said.

In the meantime, general surgeon Jaising Shinde of Surya Sahyadri Hospital in Kasba Peth, where two other victims of the fire are receiving treatment, reported that the patients’ recovery is progressing steadily. Both victims are in stable condition, though they may require an additional 15 days in the hospital before being discharged. The medical team is continuing to monitor their progress closely.

According to a statement from Ruby Hall Clinic, Humbardikar and one other injured victim, Sandeep Shinde, are in vital condition and improving. Another injured person, Vishwanath Jori, was discharged two days ago, while both Humbardikar and Shinde are showing improvements in their conditions.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are keeping a close eye on Humbardikar’s recovery before proceeding with legal action.
