Dremone Patterson Pleads Guilty in Keyon Day Case

Teen sentenced for first-degree murder and stolen vehicle

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Dremone Patterson, 17, has pleaded guilty to two charges in connection with the death of Keyon Day.

Patterson admitted to first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle. The murder conviction carries a 30-year prison sentence, while the stolen vehicle charge adds three years, to be served concurrently.

Under the terms of his plea, Patterson will be eligible for parole in 20 years and will receive credit for 572 days already served in custody.

Authorities confirmed that the sentencing reflects the seriousness of the crime and Patterson’s involvement in the death of Day.
