MONROE, Mich. — Dr. William Murdoch, Associate Director for Family Medicine Residents at Monroe Regional Hospital, was arrested by U.S. Marshals on charges related to attempting to coordinate sexual acts with a 5-year-old child, according to police.
Murdoch allegedly developed an online relationship with a woman he believed was the mother of a young girl. Unbeknownst to him, the woman was an undercover agent working with the Port St. Lucie Police Department in Florida.
Authorities say Murdoch exchanged disturbing messages, detailing plans to groom the child and escalate the situation into sexual abuse. The police described the content of these messages as “too explicit to share in full,” but they involved discussions of various forms of sexual conduct.
The investigation began in June 2025, and digital forensic analysis of Murdoch’s iCloud and messaging accounts uncovered additional alarming conversations. These suggested he intended to use his medical training to facilitate further criminal activities, including discussions about conception, abortions, and deliberate drug and alcohol use to cause birth defects.
Murdoch was charged with soliciting a parent to consent to sexual conduct involving a child. He is currently awaiting extradition to Florida to face formal charges, though no specific timeline has been announced.
