Dr. Syed Haque, a 64-year-old internist and primary care physician from Frederick, was arrested following an indictment by a Frederick County grand jury on multiple sexual assault charges. The indictment includes two counts of second-degree rape, three counts of fourth-degree sexual offense, and three counts of second-degree assault. These charges stem from two separate visits by the same patient to his office.
The adult female victim reported that Dr. Haque inappropriately touched her during a medical visit in October 2024, and again during a follow-up visit in January 2025. Initially, the victim did not report the October incident, uncertain about whether it constituted sexual assault. However, after the January incident, she immediately informed the office staff and police.
The victim alleges that Dr. Haque sexually assaulted her while pretending to conduct pelvic and breast exams. The investigation, led by the Frederick Police Department, included interviews and evidence collection. After consulting with the Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office, the case was presented to the grand jury, which indicted Dr. Haque on January 31st.
Detectives contacted Dr. Haque at his home and arrested him without incident on February 4, 2025. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
