Delhi police have arrested Dr. Sanjay Kumar Malik, owner of Sanjay Global Hospital in Jahangirpuri, in connection with a high-profile child trafficking racket. Along with the doctor, a nurse and two other women accomplices were also taken into custody. A newborn female baby was rescued from their possession, who the accused were allegedly planning to sell.
The police identified the three female accomplices as Madhu Saini (43), formerly a nurse at Holy Family Hospital, Seema Kumari (25), and Rukhsana (22). Rukhsana, the mother of the baby, had been persuaded by Dr. Malik to hand over her child for sale after being abandoned by her boyfriend while seven months pregnant.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rohini District, Pranav Tayal, said that secret information about a child-selling mafia prompted a police operation. A team led by Inspector Arjun Singh laid a trap near Ring Road Mall, Sector-3, Rohini, with Head Constable Pradeep posing as a decoy customer. The accused attempted to sell the newborn for Rs. 1,10,000, receiving an advance of Rs. 10,000.
Following the sting, police raided Sanjay Global Hospital and apprehended all the accused. Investigations revealed that Dr. Malik had orchestrated multiple unwanted deliveries, persuading mothers to hand over babies for sale to childless couples. Authorities are now probing the identities of other potential buyers and verifying prior cases.
A case under relevant sections has been registered at South Rohini Police Station, and further investigations are underway.
