Dr. Enamur Rahman Shown Arrested in Tuhin Ahmed Murder Case

Court orders custody after July movement shooting incident

Former state minister for Disaster Management and Relief, Dr. Enamur Rahman, has been shown arrested in connection with the murder of Tuhin Ahmed during the July movement protests in Savar, Dhaka.

On Sunday, Senior Judicial Magistrate K M Mohiuddin of Dhaka court approved an application by Inspector Md Ashik Imam of Savar Model police station to show Dr. Rahman as arrested and ordered that he remain in jail.

The court hearing was held in the presence of Dr. Rahman, who was brought from Keraniganj Jail. The accused has been in custody since his arrest on January 26 in the Vatara area by Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

The case involves the death of Tuhin Ahmed, who was shot in the abdomen during protests on July 20 last year on the Dhaka–Aricha Highway near RS Tower. Ahmed was treated at Enam Medical College Hospital but died on July 23. The victim’s wife filed the case following the incident.

Dr. Rahman has been under remand since his arrest, with the court granting a six-day remand shortly after.
