YORK COUNTY, PA — Dr. Christopher Davis, 63, a former medical director at Pyramid Healthcare Treatment Center, has been arrested on multiple felony charges, including rape, after allegedly coercing female methadone patients into engaging in sexual acts in exchange for continued access to necessary drug treatment medications.
Davis, who had control over patients’ access to methadone — a Schedule II controlled substance used to treat opioid addiction — used his position to manipulate, intimidate, and sexually assault numerous patients between 2022 and 2024.
The investigation, which was led by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, came after a presentation by the Statewide Investigating Grand Jury. Attorney General Dave Sunday confirmed that Davis’ actions included not only rape but also charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, and sexual extortion.
“Dr. Davis abused his medical authority and took advantage of vulnerable patients, exploiting their dependency on methadone for his personal gain,” said Sunday in a statement.
Dr. Davis’ bail has been set at $1 million. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 14.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have been a victim of Davis to come forward.
