Four suspects, including Dr. Charles Mulyansaka, Moses Mwesigwa, Peter Watum, and Moses Seruma, were arrested and presented at the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU) on Wednesday.
According to Mr. Israel Ochwo, Deputy Head of Legal at SHACU, the group allegedly impersonated government officials by posing as Chairperson of the Special Contracts Committee, Director of Procurement, Secretary, and Communications/IT Specialist respectively.
The suspects are accused of using counterfeit government websites and forged identities linked to high-level government offices to defraud foreign investors. Authorities are investigating the extent of their activities and the amount defrauded.
This arrest is part of ongoing efforts by the Anti-Corruption Unit to clamp down on fraudulent schemes targeting investors through deception and misuse of government identities.
