In a shocking case of professional betrayal, two Delhi-based doctors, Dr. Abhishek Rajput and Dr. Siddhant, along with an associate, have been arrested for allegedly cheating fellow doctor Ravi Kumar of Rs26.57 lakh under the pretext of helping him clear the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE).
Ravi Kumar, an MBBS graduate from the International Higher School of Medicine in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, returned to India in 2019 to begin practicing medicine. However, Indian law requires foreign medical graduates to pass the FMGE before obtaining a license.
Desperate to succeed, Kumar sought help from Dr. Abhishek Rajput and Dr. Siddhant, who promised assistance in clearing the FMGE in exchange for money. Despite paying Rs26.57 lakh, Kumar failed the exam and was later given a fake passing certificate.
When he demanded a refund, he was threatened by the accused. Kumar then approached authorities, and a First Information Report (FIR) was filed at Sector 14 Police Station. Following an investigation, the police arrested the doctors on charges of cheating and criminal breach of trust.
The case has raised concerns about fraudulent activities within the medical community, especially targeting vulnerable graduates seeking licensure.
