On January 24, 2025, Delaware State Police arrested 35-year-old Douglas McLean from Wilmington after a traffic stop in Georgetown. McLean, who was driving a Ford Fusion, was pulled over at around 4:33 a.m. after a trooper noticed the car speeding and swerving on Dupont Boulevard near Deer Forest Road.
Upon speaking with McLean, the officer observed signs of impairment and conducted Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which led to McLean’s arrest for driving under the influence. During a subsequent search of his vehicle, police discovered a stolen 9mm handgun, ammunition, and approximately 2.3 grams of cocaine.
McLean was taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with multiple offenses, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm while under the influence, and receiving a stolen firearm. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 3 and held at Sussex Correctional Institution on a $55,702 cash bond.
