Douglas K. Howes Arrested for Felony Vehicle Theft in Lewis County

Quincy man charged with stealing a Volkswagen Beetle in Missouri

Lewis County, Mo. — Douglas K. Howes, 53, from Quincy, Illinois, was arrested last week in northeast Missouri on charges of felony stealing without consent.

The incident began on August 12 when deputies received a report of a stolen 2006 Volkswagen Beetle from La Belle, Missouri. The vehicle was later found in Marion County and towed.

On August 21, a Lewis County deputy spotted Howes driving a vehicle north of La Belle and stopped him for failing to signal. Upon investigation, Howes was taken into custody.

On August 22, Lewis County Prosecutor Chelsea Fellinger formally charged Howes with felony stealing without consent. He is currently held at Lewis County Jail on a $20,000 cash-only bond.
