SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Four individuals have been arrested following a major police operation at a Vinton Street residence in Springfield, where authorities discovered a loaded firearm, multiple drugs, and young children living in dangerous conditions.
The arrest of 21-year-old Doughlas Moss was the result of a two-month-long investigation by the Springfield Police Department. Moss was wanted on a probation violation warrant and was located at the home Friday morning.
During the search, officers found seven people inside the residence, including three children aged between 11 months and 9 years old. Detectives recovered a loaded handgun, heroin, crack cocaine, over $700 in cash, and a baby bottle filled with a potentially harmful prescription drug.
In addition to Moss, police arrested:
A 20-year-old and a 19-year-old on firearm-related charges
42-year-old Danny Ramos, charged with drug-related offenses. Ramos has a lengthy criminal record, having been arraigned 58 times on drug charges in Massachusetts.
Authorities have not disclosed the names of the other two adults arrested due to pending investigations. The children were placed into protective custody, and child endangerment charges may be forthcoming.
The investigation is ongoing, and Springfield Police say additional charges could be filed as evidence is reviewed.
