DoorDash Driver Arrested for Theft From Injured Ex-Deputy

Madison Police Recover Items Stolen from Deputy Brad Sullivan

MADISON COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT/Gray News) — A DoorDash driver is facing multiple charges after allegedly stealing a delivery order placed by a retired Madison County deputy who was paralyzed in the line of duty.

The Madison Police Department said 33-year-old Terel Hampton was arrested Monday after he picked up an order placed by former deputy Brad Sullivan, then refused to deliver it and kept the items for himself.

Sullivan had placed the order at Academy Sports in Madison for his son. According to police, the order was marked as picked up by a DoorDash driver identified as “Dennis K.” But shortly after that, the order was cancelled — something Sullivan said he did not authorize.

Concerned, Sullivan contacted the store, which confirmed that “Dennis K” picked up the items and left. When Sullivan called the driver directly, Hampton allegedly told him he wouldn’t complete the delivery.

Police quickly tracked Hampton down and pulled him over. During the stop, officers discovered the stolen merchandise, along with marijuana and a firearm.

The stolen goods included two pairs of shoes, two shirts, and a pair of shorts — all of which were returned to Sullivan. Hampton was arrested and booked into the Madison County Jail on charges of petit larceny, improper vehicle equipment, and possession of marijuana while in possession of a firearm.

A social media page dedicated to Brad Sullivan’s recovery shared a public thank-you to the Madison Police Department and confirmed that Sullivan does not plan to use the delivery service again.
