LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — Deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office arrested 54-year-old Donell Davonne Rothwell, of no fixed address, on Saturday, April 5, 2025, in connection with a series of motor vehicle break-ins in the California and Lexington Park areas.
Following reports of thefts from unattended vehicles, deputies canvassed local businesses and neighborhoods. During their investigation, evidence was collected linking Rothwell to several incidents in which credit cards and other valuables were stolen and later used for purchases at nearby stores.
Rothwell was located and taken into custody Saturday afternoon. He faces the following charges:
Four counts of rogue and vagabond
Four counts of theft under $100
Three counts of theft between $100 and $1500
Four counts of credit card theft (stealing another’s card)
Four counts of credit card theft (charges under $100 and between $100-$1500)
One count of malicious destruction of property (under $1000)
Additionally, Rothwell had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in District Court on unrelated traffic charges issued by the Maryland State Police.
After his arrest, Rothwell was transported to the Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown. The investigation remains ongoing, and further charges may be filed.
