Donald Wright, a suspected serial shoplifter, has been arrested after allegedly stealing more than $16,000 from various stores in Ohio. Wright is facing two felony theft charges and one charge for possessing criminal tools, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives tracked Wright’s movements after a hit was received from the Flock camera system, which flagged his vehicle’s license plate. Detective Mike Steele explained that Wright had stolen from several stores, including Victoria’s Secret, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Macy’s, with the bulk of the thefts occurring at the Liberty Center Mall. Investigators believe Wright had also been involved in shoplifting incidents in Hamilton County and Montgomery County.
In addition to the stolen goods, Wright was found with a tool used to remove magnetic security tags from merchandise. Authorities managed to locate Wright after tracking his vehicle to Bridgewater Falls in Fairfield Township.
Wright now faces felony charges for theft and possession of criminal tools, and the investigation into his crimes continues.
