ANAHEIM, CA — A 46-year-old man from Las Vegas, Donald Newton, has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies related to the alleged human trafficking of a 16-year-old girl in Orange County, California.

The Anaheim Police Department said they received a distress call on May 30 reporting a teenage girl being held against her will by an armed suspect at a motel on the 700 block of South Beach Boulevard.

Officers responded and successfully located the victim, moving her to a safe location. Although Newton was not at the scene, a loaded firearm was recovered in the motel room.

After identifying Newton as the suspect, detectives located him two hours later in Stanton, where he was taken into custody.

Newton was later charged by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office with:

Human trafficking of a minor

Pimping a minor over 16

Pandering with a minor over 16

Possession of a firearm by a felon

Possession of ammunition by a prohibited person

Three counts of personal use of a firearm in a felony

He remains in custody on $500,000 bail. Further details, including how Newton met the teen or how long she was held, have not been released.
