CHILLICOTHE, OH – A man was arrested Saturday evening at the Chillicothe Walmart on River Trace Lane after allegedly attempting to shoplift while carrying a loaded handgun.
Police were dispatched to 85 River Trace Lane just before 7:30 p.m. on June 8 for a reported theft in progress. Upon arrival, Officers Kyle Curry and Campbell found store security detaining the suspect near the grocery entrance.
The suspect was identified as Donald Krafthefer. A background check revealed an active warrant (FTA #TRD2502058ABC) through the Chillicothe Police Department.

Krafthefer was read his Miranda rights, which he acknowledged. Loss prevention staff requested he be banned from the property; police informed him that returning would result in a criminal trespass charge.
He was taken to the Ross County Jail and is being charged with robbery due to being armed during the offense. A pre-indictment for robbery is in progress, and Krafthefer is scheduled to appear in Chillicothe Municipal Court on Monday, June 9 at 9:00 a.m.
