ROME, Ga. — A wanted fugitive from Alabama, Donal Eugene Nichols Jr, 61, of Cave Spring, was arrested this week after being found with illegal drugs near Atrium Health Floyd.
Reports indicate that Nichols was discovered in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, and Oxycodone in his pocket. The arrest came as part of an ongoing investigation, though police have not disclosed the specific charges Nichols was evading in Centre, Alabama.
Nichols now faces several charges, including two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drugs not in their original container, two counts of failure to appear, and being a fugitive from justice.
