On December 12, two women were arrested after fleeing from a HomeGoods store with stolen merchandise. A loss prevention officer initially pursued the suspects in a Jeep, and police later located the vehicle, leading to the suspects’ detention. During a search, officers found not only stolen goods but also ID cards linked to potential identity theft victims.
Dominique Starks, 30, from Oakland, and Starr Jones, 27, from San Leandro, were arrested on multiple charges, including possession of stolen property, identity theft, conspiracy to commit theft, and organized retail theft. Further investigations revealed that the women were involved in numerous felony thefts in Rio Vista, Fremont, and Natomas. Additionally, they had used stolen IDs to commit return fraud, resulting in a loss of $5,000. Police believe the women have stolen thousands of dollars in merchandise across various locations.
Starks, who has a history of multiple arrests dating back to 2012, faces charges ranging from theft and burglary to unlawful use of stolen personal information. Jones, previously arrested in 2017 for embezzlement, was also linked to these ongoing crimes.
The suspects were arrested on $50,000 bail. As of December 17, neither woman is listed as a current inmate in Sacramento County. Police suspect that additional stores may have been targeted by the duo, and investigations into other potential victims are underway.
