Dominic Sprague Pleads Guilty in $1.2M Stolen Goods Case

Rochester pawn shop owner admits to selling stolen items

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A man from Rochester has admitted to working with others to sell stolen items and make over $1 million in illegal profits.

Dominic Sprague, 41, owned the New York Gold Diamond Pawn Shop in Greece, New York. Between 2021 and 2024, he worked with four other people to buy and sell stolen goods.

The people who stole the items — Amanda Reeves, Shabon Banks, Chad Lewis Jr., and the pawn shop manager James Civiletti — would take new, unopened products from stores. They would then sell those items to the pawn shop for cheap prices.

Sprague’s shop would resell the stolen items on eBay for more money. This scam brought in about $1.2 million in profits. The shop bought around 38,000 stolen items in over 670 transactions. The stores lost more than $1.1 million.

The four others involved were already found guilty and are waiting to be sentenced.

Sprague will be sentenced on September 23, 2025, and could go to prison for up to six years.
