SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) — A 19-year-old Springfield man, Domanyck Nieves, was arrested Monday following a months-long investigation into gun and drug trafficking activities.
Nieves first drew police attention on August 10 when he was pulled over on I-91 in Whately. Instead of complying, he sped off, reaching speeds of 115 mph. He was eventually stopped in West Springfield, but both he and a 16-year-old passenger fled on foot.
Authorities quickly apprehended the teen passenger and recovered a cache of illegal items from the vehicle, including ammunition, marijuana, crack cocaine, and fentanyl.
Nieves evaded capture at the time but was later arrested at his residence on Water Street in Indian Orchard. He now faces multiple charges related to gun possession, drug trafficking, and fleeing police.
