New Orleans police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the Fairgrounds area.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 3000 block of Belfort Street, where a man was found suffering from gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. The victim was transported to a hospital by EMS, where he later died from his injuries.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified Dodd as a suspect. Arrest warrants were issued for second-degree murder, aggravated battery by shooting, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Dodd was later located in the 2700 block of Lapeyrouse Street and taken into custody. He was booked into Central Lockup.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity after an autopsy is completed and family members are notified.
