Mangaluru City police have arrested Prajwal Peenyas, a doctor and medical student residing in Bengaluru, in connection with a drug peddling case. City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy confirmed that Peenyas, originally from Mangalapet, Bidar, was apprehended after a detailed investigation by the CEN crime police station.
The case was registered under sections 8(c) and 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act on July 2. Following a probe involving drug users, nine suppliers dealing in drugs in Mangaluru city were identified and arrested, all placed under judicial custody.
Prajwal Peenyas was identified as a key figure responsible for procuring drugs from Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh and distributing them in Mangaluru. During the arrest, police seized a mobile phone used in the criminal activities. The accused was produced before court, which ordered his judicial custody.
