ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A man involved in an Orlando robbery-turned-shootout has been arrested again to face new charges, including attempted murder, robbery, and discharging a firearm from a vehicle, according to police records.

D’Jon Heyliger, 32, was initially arrested in early February for resisting an officer without violence but was later released on bond. However, new evidence led to his re-arrest after detectives linked him to the February 4 robbery and shootout in a downtown Orlando parking garage.

Details of the Incident
Police say Heyliger was among a group of seven suspects who coordinated a robbery on the fourth floor of a N. Orange Avenue parking garage. Surveillance footage showed three men carrying large boxes to a white Tesla sedan before being confronted at gunpoint by suspects arriving in a Hyundai Tucson and a blue Acura sedan.

As the victims fled, Heyliger and his accomplices allegedly stole the boxes and a backpack. Moments later, the victims returned with firearms, sparking a shootout between the groups. Heyliger was seen firing from the backseat of the Tucson before the vehicle fled the scene.

Investigation and Arrest
Police later stopped the Tucson near W. Robinson Street and Beggs Avenue. While two occupants, including Heyliger, attempted to flee, they were later apprehended. A search of the vehicle uncovered 16 pounds of vacuum-sealed marijuana inside a box and an additional pound inside the stolen backpack.

During his initial arrest, Heyliger allegedly refused to speak with police, only stating that he was “the one they’re trying to (expletive) kill.” He was taken to ORMC for evaluation before being booked into Orange County Jail.

Heyliger now faces charges of attempted murder with a firearm, robbery with a firearm, and discharging a firearm from a vehicle as authorities continue their investigation.
